Art in Quarantine

Heading 2
Created during the COVID-19 lockdown, these works emerged from conditions of restriction, immobility and material scarcity. Deprived of access to new canvases and supplies, Oranous Afsharian turned toward the remaining objects and fragments already present in the studio, allowing limitation itself to shape the logic of the work.
Constructed through accumulation, improvisation and reconfiguration, the pieces functioned as compressed spatial structures shaped by isolation and suspended time. Everyday materials lost their ordinary function and became carriers of psychological tension, repetition and survival. Rather than treating quarantine as a temporary interruption, the works approached it as a condition that altered perceptions of space, time and production itself; where confinement gradually transformed the studio into a closed system of circulation, residue and adaptation.
