Oranous Afsharian (b. 1995, Iran) is a contemporary visual artist working between Germany and Qatar. Over the past decade, she has developed a practice that moves across mixed media and monoprint, shaped by an ongoing engagement with news, images, and the ways narratives are constructed and circulated.

Her work begins with what is already in headlines, fragments, and visual traces of everyday life and treats them not as fixed records, but as unstable forms. Through processes of layering, removal, and repetition, images are fragmented, erased, and reassembled, existing in a state between appearance and disappearance.

Working across contexts inside and outside Iran, Afsharian reflects on how meaning shifts over time, and how memory is shaped by distance. Following her experience of migration, the notion of home emerges in her work not as a stable place, but as something provisional—constructed, displaced, and continuously redefined.

Time, in her practice, is not linear but accumulative; surfaces hold traces, images carry residues, and narratives unfold through interruption. Her works navigate the fragile space where personal memory intersects with mediated reality, revealing the emotional and political layers embedded within contemporary visual culture.
